How do you make a website for a band that creates ambient soundscapes? Think countryside post-rock mutates into guitar drone music. Austin based band fIRES WERE SHOT has been redefining the sonic possibilities of the guitar ever since they started back in 1998. They sound like Stars of the Lid on acoustic guitars with effects pedals, part Terry Riley, part Mogwai, and with little rhythmic propulsion to speak of. (– Josh Rosenblatt, Austin Chronicle)
It’s all about the expression of an ambiance; that almost unconcious feeling you get at a certain place and time.
The experiential element was important. Flash was always great (especially before the arrival of HTML5) to create these kind of web experiences where image and sound go hand in hand with information and interactivity.
